2010 KIDS Run the Line TOO

Saturday, February 20, 2010 4:00p.m.
CHRISTUS St. Michael Health & Fitness Center
Benefits:  Partnership for the Pathway

Participants can download an Official Mileage Log when they register and keep track of each mile they run or walk prior to Tuesday, February 16th, 2010.  Each participant will log 12.1 miles on his log by having an adult sign for each mile completed.  On the day of KIDS Run the line TOO, the participants will run the final 1 mile on a very safe and isolated course on the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System Campus. You can download a map of the course. There will be a “safety-net” of responsible adults who will run with the kids, ensuring safety at all times.

Since 12.1 miles need to be run or walked in advance of the race, registration will officially close on January 20, 2010.  We feel that any less than four weeks to run or walk 12.1 miles could be dangerous to young children.  Ideally, you should allow the participant 8 to 12 weeks to complete the 12.1 mile goal.  Please see the Half Marathon Training Plan to see the best way to achieve this goal.

The event is for children ages 5 through 13, including physically and mentally challenged athletes (buddies may be used as needed).  Parents may accompany their children without registering for the event.  We do recommend that parents register for the event and participate with their child, so they can receive a participant t-shirt.  Parents will be permitted to push non-participating siblings in strollers. However, they will be required to line up behind all of the participants to ensure the safety of the children.

All Registered Student Participants will receive:

A Goody Bag

KIDS Run the Line TOO T-shirt

The official KIDS Run the Line TOO Finisher’s Medal

Fitness Challenge for Schools:

The school with the highest percentage of registered participants in KIDS Run the Line TOO will receive $500 to use in their school’s Fitness/P.E. Department! The winning school will be announced on February 20, 2010, at 3:55 before the race starts.

A “Winning” Approach:

Every child will be a winner at the KIDS Run the Line TOO!  Whether choosing to run, walk or skip the mile to the finish line, every participant should feel great about reaching the 13.1 mile goal!  All will be winners by learning to make healthy choices and realizing the importance of exercising regularly.
We look forward to seeing you at the race!
