The third annual Run the Line Half-Marathon is Sunday, February 21, 2010, in Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas. The race starts at 8:00am downtown at Broad Street and Stateline Avenue and will end back downtown on 3rd Street. Race day registration will be in the Bi-State Justice Building on Stateline Avenue. This is a unique opportunity to run in one race that goes through two states.

The course is relatively flat with a few long inclines.  It goes through both Cities of Texarkana with a short portion of the race on the Arkansas/Texas stateline. The race is primarily on asphalt and includes the Nix Creek Trail, the Phillip McDougal Trail in Spring Lake Park, and city streets with coning.  We have multiple volunteers, water stations, and porti-potties along the course.

The half-marathon includes 2-person relay teams. Electronic timing chips are provided for runners. After the race, we'll gather at the historic Hopkins Ice House on 3rd and Wood Streets for hamburgers and drinks for everyone who would like to join us.

All half-marathon finishers who register by February 6, 2010 will receive a t-shirt, hat, and medal. We will do our best to provide a t-shirt, hat and, medal to those who register after February 6.

Event Registration and Fees:

The entry fees for this year's Marathon are as follows:

• Individual Runner – $40.00 (late fee $50.00 after February 6)
• 2-Person Relay Team – $70.00 (late fee $90.00 after February 6)

The Partnership is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization working to build a safe walking, running, bicycling trail system in the Texarkana area and is the recipient of the race proceeds.

Race Packet Pick-Up:

Packet pick-up is on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Christus St. Michael Fitness Center, 2223 Morris Lane, Texarkana, Texas. Although participants are encouraged to pick up their packets early, packets will be available on race day from 6:30am to 7:30am at the downtown race site. Bad weather may result in delays or cancellation.

Awards:

Trophies for: top three overall female and male finishers; top Grand Masters female and male finishers; top three places for female and male in all age groups - 19 and under, 20-24, and every five years thereafter to 80+; and top three places for 2-person relay teams.

The brand new Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 5210 Crossroads Parkway, Texarkana, Arkansas, is one of our host hotels.  They have reserved 15 King rooms and 25 Double Queen rooms for arrival Saturday, February 20, 2010 for 1 night at the discounted rate of $85 per room plus tax per night.  The hotel offers a hot or cold complimentary breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, and fitness room.  Plus, a late checkout of 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2010.

After February 6, the rooms will be released, but if either hotel has a vacancy, they will honor the $85 rate if the code is used.

Directions and Parking:

From Interstate 30, exit Stateline Avenue and go south approximately 3 miles. Go around Post Office and continue on Stateline Avenue for three blocks. Park in any of the open parking lots on your left. From I-549, take Texas Loop and exit South Stateline. Turn right on South Stateline. Exit 3rd Street. Go to Stateline and park in any of the open parking areas.
